In Mid August 2014 African Ascents hosted 3 young lads on a Glacial Travel Expedition on Mt Kenya. Having been on Safari in the hot Samburu region to Mt Kenya’s north the 3 arrived at Colobus Cottages, African Ascents base, ready for the icey challenge ahead. The expedition was a huge success, weather conditions where on there side throughout rope work training and the Glacial Ascent itself. Congratulations on a great trip!

Here are some comments from one of the participants: Charlie Mann.

“Quick review of our Mt. Kenya experience with Africa Assents: it was brilliant, remains the highlight of an action packed month spent in Kenya.
The walk: as challenging as you make it, very scenic and extremely good fun.
The food: proper meals – tasty, nutritious, hot, well welcomed and important at the end of a mornings hike.
The glacier climb/walk: I would recommend to anyone, you don’t need to be an experienced climber to concour it, so you may as well while it’s there!
Health and safety/professionalism: could not fault African ascents, they take your safety seriously, in the event that it did hit the fan while on the mountain, you can take comfort in knowing you are in extremely capable hands.
The porters & cook: work very hard to make your stay on the mountain as comfy as possible.
The guide: an all round good guy with excellent knowledge and awareness. Ultimately made the trip the raging success it was.”
